This Privacy Policy describes how Hollow Road (the "Application") handles information when you use our underground exploration assistant for iPhone and iPad. The Application is provided by Ferme l'Erable Vert Inc, 1351 rte du Bel-Air, Rimouski, Quebec G5L 8Y9, Canada ("we", "us", or "our").

Information We Collect

Hollow Road does not require an account, sign-up, or login. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number inside the app. We do not run third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or marketing SDKs.

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

• Expedition and field log entries (depth, notes, stratigraphy, echo timing, mood, conditions)
• Bookmarked Atlas sites and Stone Library articles
• Reading progress and quiz scores
• Gear packing lists and readiness state
• Lantern focus session history and streak data
• App preferences (depth units, haptics, onboarding state)
• Cached Wikipedia summaries for underground sites (stored in the app cache)

Location Data

If you grant permission on the Atlas tab, the app uses your device's location while the app is in use to show your position on the map and find nearby sites. Location data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can use the app fully without granting location access.

Network Requests

When you have an internet connection, the app may contact:

• Wikipedia — to load public article summaries for Atlas site detail pages. Requests include a standard User-Agent identifying the app. Summaries are cached locally on your device.
• Apple Maps — only when you tap "Open in Maps" on a site; this opens the system Maps app and is subject to Apple's privacy policy.

We do not send your personal field logs, bookmarks, or watchlists to these services.

Widgets & Live Activity

Optional Home Screen widgets and Lantern Live Activity use Apple's system frameworks and an app group shared between the main app and widget extension. Data displayed (streak, last descent, focus hours) is read from local storage on your device. We do not receive widget or Lock Screen content on our servers.

How We Use Information

Because we do not operate user accounts or collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to profile, share, or sell. Every feature — Journey, Atlas, Field Log, Stone Library, and Workshop — runs using data stored on your device.

Data Storage & Retention

All of your content remains in the app's private storage on your device. There is no cloud sync and no remote backup operated by us. Deleting the app permanently removes associated local data from your device.

Children's Privacy

The Application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted to us, the app aligns with COPPA and similar child-privacy standards.

Your Control

You can edit or delete expeditions, bookmarks, and gear lists at any time inside the app. Uninstalling Hollow Road removes all locally stored app data from your device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect app improvements or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. The core commitment — local storage, no accounts, no sale of personal data — will not change without clear notice on this page.
